Greening and Digitising the next phase of the EU recovery
This episode of the HPE & Forum Europe RRF series turns its attention to the issue of sustainability, more specifically the overlap between sustainability and digitisation. In Q3 the Commission is expected to present its implementing report on the RRF. Given that this report will include an assessment on whether Member States are meeting the requirement that a minimum of 20% of expenditure is dedicated to digital and another 37% to green transition objectives, this event will provide an opportunity to demonstrate how digital investments can also be green investments.
Furthermore in the context of RePowerEU, Member States will at this time be required to include new chapters in RRF proposals related to sustainability, energy efficiency, circular economy, etc. This will prove pivotal as payment requests will continue to be sent for assessment to the Commission during this period.
This event will focus on the opportunities offered by ICT products such as EaaS to improve resource efficiency, significantly reduce overall expenditure on digital infrastructure, all while ensuring high performance quality and data security. This all comes at a time when there will be increased focus on the issue of green public procurement, as the EU institutions continue their work on developing regulation and criteria for green ICT.
